Hi everyone. Remember that we’re switching groups this coming Sunday. So, everyone in Stephen’s group is now with Jeffrey, and Jeffrey’s group is now with Stephen.
Prep for next class
Jeffrey’s Group:
I’m looking forward to meeting with you over the next number of weeks as we learn together from the word of God. We are going to start with a series called ‘Discipling the Disciples.’ Do you remember the names of Jesus’ disciples?
Over five weeks, we’ll look at how Christ taught his twelve disciples and prepared them to be the Apostles – the leaders of his Church. We’ll learn what it means to be a disciple and we’ll see that the lessons they learnt back then are just as important for us now.
Read: Matthew 4:17-22; John 1:35-42.
Think: One day, Jesus called on some men to leave everything they had and follow him. Would you have responded the same way as these fishermen? Why do you think these men obeyed without hesitation? (HINT: The events in John happened before those in Matthew)
Stephen’s Group:
In the next few months, we’re going to be thinking about the subject of “God has spoken”. The idea that God has spoken to humanity is central to the Bible. We want to start by thinking about the implications of this truth. If God has spoken, how does that change things?
Think: If God has not spoken to us, what would that mean? How would it change how we think about ourselves, about our choices, about our problems, about the future, about the universe? Can you think of any other implications?
Read: Hebrews 1:1-3
See you all on Sunday at 3pm 🙂
